The Campbeltown region in Scotland's South-West saw its distillery numbers decline drastically in the 20th century, due to the First and Second World Wars and Prohibition laws. However the surviving producers, such as Springbank, continue to make distinctive, characterful whiskies with flavours of white fruits, fudge, toffee, smoke and oil.
