A brilliant effort from proprietor Denis Durantou, this classic Pomerol reveals a dark purple color as well as sweet aromas of raspberries, black cherries, cassis, and hints of caramel and vanilla. It is made in a layered, medium to full-bodied style with moderately high tannin, and superb concentration, structure, and depth.
This 5.5 hectare property is located on the Pomerol plateau, tucked away discreetly from the roadside. Undoubtedly one of Pomerol's leading estates, its 45 year old vines produce exceptionally complex wines, with flavours and aromas of plum and damson.
Pomerol has less than 800 hectares under vine but produces some of the world’s most sublime wines. Interestingly, unlike most quality appellations in Bordeaux though, the region remains unclassified. The vineyards are located to the west of Saint-Émilion, sharing its predominantly clay-based soils and a preference for the Merlot grape. The finest vineyards are planted across the gently elevated plateau of Pomerol.
