Cellar Plan Terms & Conditions

Members joining the Cellar Plan are deemed to have accepted AWC’s general Terms and Conditions. Additionally, the following Cellar Plan specific Terms and Conditions apply:

1. Wines will normally be purchased through the Cellar Plan twice a year, after sufficient funds have accumulated in the member’s Cellar Plan. Purchases are made by the Cellar Plan Consultant assigned to the member’s account, who shall have delegated discretion to make purchases on behalf of the member. The consultant’s purchase assessment is guided by the member’s wine interest preferences and the amount of the member’s monthly contribution (which may be amended at any time). Members retain ultimate control over the direction of their Cellar Plan and AWC will, where requested, cancel any purchase made under delegated discretion that is deemed unsuitable by the member, within one month of purchase.

2. All Cellar Plan wines are sold and stored under bond. Wine storage is free-of-charge for the first year; thereafter wine storage will be charged at a rate of £12.50 +VAT per case of 12 bottles or £6.25 +VAT per case of 6 bottles, per annum. These fees will be paid for as part of your Cellar Plan payments.

3. Cellar Plans are based on a minimum of twelve month’s Cellar Plan payments.  New Cellar Plan members may select either a free case of wine as specified below (“Free Case”) or an AWC Event ticket as specified below (“Free Ticket”) upon joining.

If the member selects a Free Case:

  • The Free Case for which the member is eligible shall be as follows:
    • If the member’s Cellar Plan payments comprise £250-£499 per month: 6 x 75cl bottles of 2009 Clos Cantenac or, at AWC’s discretion, wines listed on AWC’s then current price list with an equivalent RRP.
    • If the member’s Cellar Plan payments comprise £500 - £999 per month: 12 x 75cl bottles of 2009 Reserve de la Comtesse, Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande or, at AWC’s discretion, wines listed on AWC’s then current price list with an equivalent RRP.
    • If the member’s Cellar Plan payments comprise £1,000 or more per month: 12 x 75cl bottles of 2010 Alter Ego de Palmer, Château Palmer or, at AWC’s discretion, wines listed on AWC’s then current price list with an equivalent RRP.
  • The Free Case will be added to the member’s reserves, in bond, after the member’s first monthly Cellar Plan payment has been received.
  • The Free Case is available for withdrawal by the member after 12 monthly Cellar Plan payments have been received and will be subject to payment of duty and VAT at prevailing rates and, if applicable, storage and delivery fees.
  • If the member chooses to cancel his/her monthly Cellar Plan payments before twelve such payments have been made, the member will need to pay off any outstanding amount due on the wines in his/her Cellar Plan and either return the aforementioned Free Case to AWC or pay to AWC the retail price of the Free Case prevailing at that time.

If the member selects a Free Ticket:

  • The Free Ticket for which the member is eligible shall be to attend one AWC event (“Event”) as follows:
    • If the member’s Cellar Plan payments comprise £250-£499 per month: at the member’s election either a ticket for one person to attend an Event with an entry price of up to £250 per person or tickets for two people to attend an Event with an entry price of up to £125 per person.
    • If the member’s Cellar Plan payments comprise £500 - £999 per month: at the member’s election either a ticket for one person to attend an Event with an entry price of up to £350 per person or tickets for two people to attend an Event with an entry price of up to £175 per person.
    • If the member’s Cellar Plan payments comprise £1,000 or more per month: at the member’s election either a ticket for one person to attend an Event with an entry price of up to £500 per person or tickets for two people to attend an Event with an entry price of up to £250 per person.
  • The Free Ticket is only available for redemption against AWC events occurring within the forthcoming 24 months and shall in no circumstances be redeemable for cash or against wines purchased from AWC.
  • If the member chooses to cancel his/her monthly Cellar Plan payments before twelve such payments have been made, the member will need to pay off any outstanding amount due on the wines in his/her Cellar Plan and
    • if he/she has not used the Free Ticket, return it; and
    • if he/she has used the Free Ticket, pay to AWC the retail price of the Free Ticket prevailing at the time it was used.

Note that AWC is under no obligation to continue to offer AWC events.

4. Members may withdraw wine from storage at any time, either via online instruction or through their consultant, subject to all costs relating to the wine having been paid in full, including taxes where appropriate, and any outstanding storage fees, before delivery can be made. Delivery to a UK address is free-of-charge.

5. After twelve monthly Cellar Plan payments, the member is free to cancel their Cellar Plan at any time, by giving notice in writing to AWC at its registered address. At that point, AWC will assess the outstanding balance on the account. Any outstanding balance owed to the member will be paid by AWC to the member in full and without delay. Any outstanding balance owed to AWC must be paid by the member to AWC in full and without delay.

6. AWC reserves the right to alter the terms of Cellar Plan membership, or to terminate the Cellar Plan at any time. All alterations will be communicated to members via email.
